about

Dispensing with old Future Loss pastiches such as 'economy' and 'restraint', Vast Active saw the band stray into furious, looping, noise territory.

They returned with this LP as proof of their efforts, having been driven home in their own car by an uninsured stranger, with cereal stains showing on their Dunnes Stores jumpers.

They were again joined on most of the tracks by their borrowed rhythm section, who were primed for peak musical performance by only being made aware of the chords, tempo and duration of the material several minutes before final recording took place.

It is by nature a murky, sprawling beast of a record, that has resisted all attempts by the band to reign it in. The confined space of the recording environment, and the live, rangy feel to the structures, would not allow for studio trickery or invasive editing.

Phase III of the Future Loss catharsis project therefore welcomes itself into your home, and then proceeds to strip the place of its copper piping for sale to the local scrap merchants.
